Tree Hugger Saturday

Conditions: 30 deg. F | Freezing rain

PAX: Legz, Pinky, Pipeline, Puffs

Q: Pipeline

Four mighty PAX overcame the post-holiday turkey coma and the shocking Hokies win to get a little better this morning. The AO was moved from Wasena Park to the Reserve Ave. parking deck due to the freezing rain. Puffs rolled in at 6:29:59 so the PAX did burpees until he was ready to do work. Everyone was pleased that Puffs had achieved his weeks-long goal of posting at a workout. Little steps, buddy. Little steps.

Quick warmup.

The Thang: As F3 Roanoke’s resident tree-hugger, Pipeline decided on a climate-change themed workout. The goal was to complete 350 reps of exercises before the 7:30 bell rang. 350 ppm (parts per million) is how much carbon dioxide (CO2) climate scientists believe the atmosphere can contain before everything goes to hell in a handbasket, cats start lying with dogs, the Wahoos beat the Hokies in football and general Armageddon ensues.

Starting at floor G, the PAX completed 25 reps of an exercise (either single-count or 13 cadence-count reps) and then did a traveling exercise up the ramp, where they held an Al Gore position until the PAX reassembled. Rinse and repeat up to 5, which included a yog in the rain and ice to the top of the stairs, where the PAX did 25 cadence-count Smurf Jacks and 25 cadence count Side-Straddle Hops. Then back down, 25 reps of an exercise and a travel on the down ramp. Conclude with 13 double-merkin burpees and 7 MOM.

Six floors (G through 5)  x 25 reps x 2 (up and down)=300 exercise reps plus 50 at the top=350 reps. Al Gore would be proud.

Recover. Recover.

Coffeeteria at Sweet Donkey where we ran across Dunphy and his 2.0. Dunphy was almost accused of pulling a #Starsky but his family is the proud owner of a new Golden Retriever pup, which he had with him, so we cut him some slack.

Proud of my brothers who came out in the sheisty weather and it was an honor to lead them!
