CSAUPs

COMPLETELY STUPID AND UTTERLY POINTLESS

Catscratch looks like a baby here! Aww. We’ll get some photos up from this decade soon.

CSAUPs are “difficult events that the PAX do together to promote teamwork and perseverance.” In the past, we’ve done coordinated workouts like a Memorial Day “Murph” to honor our fallen soldiers, Ragnar or Spartan races, GrowRuck events, and the Blue Ridge Relay. We also create our own challenges like a Triple Crown run or McAfee’s Knob Ruck. They’re always hard but they’re easier knowing the man next to you is working as hard as you are.

Another example is when one of our pax had the idea to try the Coggins 4x4x48 run – where you run 4 miles, every 4 hours, over 48 hours. Completely Stupid. His leadership helped several other men to lean into the challenge as well. In spite of the physical challenge of running significant distance in foul weather and the mental battle against fatigue and sleep loss, everyone who started completed the challenge. Many others who were not participating joined for some of the runs to encourage and support their peers.
