Release your inner animal

Nobody wanted to get up after the first overtime Super Bowl and the epic collapse of the Falcons.

But somehow 8 PAX crawled out of bed and rolled into the parking lot on Reserve before 5:30. Actually one showed up a few seconds late (it was Cat Scratch…probably due to a line at Dunkin Donuts or something)…so we burpeed (~10 OYO) until he was out of the car and ready.

It was a pleasant morning — not too cold…no wind…no rain (or snow)….so lets forget the parking deck today. Plus all those that participated in Wasupwidis race refused to do stairs. So I obliged them and we headed to the tennis courts for a mild warm-up.

As we entered the courts everyone circled up…but no time for that crap today. We started by running the lines on the three tennis courts….with five burpees at the end. We repeated times 3 to make sure everyone was good and warmed up and sweating a little.

Then we circled up just long enough to get our shoulders ready. Forward arm circles (x25 IC), Overhead arm claps (x26 IC because I was daydreaming and forgot to stop everyone at 25), and reverse arm circles (x24 IC, to make up for the extra OHAC). Then just a few merkins for good measure (x10IC).

The thang: Animal bombs of course!!

Pair up.

First exercise 50 burpees and gorilla crawl. This pairing was selected at random and should really be avoided in the future. Bad decision by the Q. Flutter kicks until everyone is done.

Second exercise 100 Overhead arm claps (double count) and crab walking. Flutter kicks until everyone is done.

Third exercise 150 merkins and bear crawling. LBCs until everyone is done.

Fourth exercise….the nail in the coffin….150 bottoms-out merkins (aka hand release merkins) and inch worm crawl. Yeah, we could have done big boy sit-ups, but what the hell. These really put a smile on everyone’s face.

We circled up for Mary and called out exercise of 20 IC: 20 american hammers, 20 basic instincts, 20 freddy mercuries (we all saw Cat Scratch’s beast mode), 20 JLo’s (Cake, you suck), 20 planks, and 20 box cutters.

Times up….darn it I had more stuff planned. Guess I will save it for next time.
