I was away for a week and apparently missed fall because this morning felt distinctly like winter. A chilly 32 degrees when I got in the car.
Last week I forgot to post a backblast and was harassed by Pipeline so I was going to repeat the workout so it counted. But then I remembered he also didn’t count the 1000 merkins in 50 minute workout since it took more than the allotted 45 minutes)….so I decided to repeat that…plus then Twitch could participate.
PAX that were dum/crazy/naive enough to show up = 7 (Dunphy, Pipeline, Twitch, Puffs, Frizzle, BlindSpot, Pinky)
At 5:28 all but Twitch and Puffs had arrived. It was cold. Perhaps too cold to stand in place for 45 minutes and do merkins. For a brief moment I contemplated putting the phone in the car and improvising a workout that was better suited to the weather. Dunphy already looked cold in his short shorts and t-shirt. But then I thought not doing this workout would be retreating, losing to the weather. Seemed to me that was not what F3 stood for. So on we go. Plus Twitch arrived and there is no running involved so thats good for him.
We slow jog/walk to the tennis court so Puffs can catch us. We circle up. At this moment Dunphy realizes our plight. He is clearly cold already and decides to run a few quick laps to get some blood moving. He looks like he is actually running FROM something. Perhaps its the merkins. Not sure he realizes that he won’t escape this workout if he runs in circles.
To make this work we do 10 merkins every 27 seconds. No one made it through the entire 45 minutes (apparently the 3 second difference per cycle is important….or the cold really did win). When you needed a break from merkins I allowed squats instead. Pipeline took it upon himself to disregard that instruction an try to make his way through the entire lexicon of F3. Perhaps it was to get over the boredom. Perhaps it was because he wanted to squerkin with someone (no one took the bait luckily), perhaps he wanted to lay on his side, prop his head up and look longingly at Dunphy. No one knows.
The most memorable moment came at about minute 8 (still a lot left to do). It slipped my mind to actually tell the Pax what we were doing, since they all knew. Right?! Oh wait, Frizzle joined F3 after the 1000 merkin day. Poor guy had no clue. 8 minutes in he said “Is this all we are doing???” Yes. Yes it is. Enjoy.
45 minutes really flew by. So hypothesis tested — time does actually fly by when you are having fun.
Happy Monday. Good luck using your arms today (and tomorrow) suckas!!!!!!!!
