Camp Crystal Lake

Seabiscuit trotted past my dark car at 5:21. It must be time to go. I slide the mask down over my face and grab my props. I wait for him to cross the bridge before I get out of the car so he doesn’t see me. As he disappears I throw up my car door and felt the jolt of the cold air. Must get moving to warm up. So i jump out of the car and run across the street towards the bridge. In hindsight I should have paid attention to the approaching car. Not that I was going to get run over…but it must have seemed odd for them to see someone run out of a dark parked car wearing a hockey mask and carrying a bloody leg. Hopefully the 911 operator reminded them it was Halloween (even if it was only 5:21 AM).

After crossing the bridge I could see at least 4 cars already in the lot. I slowly make my way across the field. Walking slowly now. As I approach the cars everyone is still inside them to stay warm. I toss the severed leg onto the one car facing the field. It plops onto the windshield in front of Frizzle. Happy Halloween Frizzle!

PAX – 8 (Dunphy, Puffs, Frizzle, Herschel, Double Humpee, Seabiscuit, HC3, Pinky)

Q – Jason Voorhees

Since its Halloween it seems fitting to start with a Slaughter Start….20 burpees OYO.

Then we take a slow jog around the field twice (I recognize there may be some dispute about “slow”). After which we circle up in the center of the field. 25 SSH IC. 10 Candlestick burpees OYO (note – like these). 10 WMH IC. 15 merkins IC. 20 Imperial Walkers IC. There may have been more burpees I can’t recall. Then we made our way to the rail. Not the low easy rail. The high rail near the tennis courts. 10 step ups each leg. (Insert Dunphy complaints about his short ass legs here). 15 derkins IC. Switch to the lower rail across the gravel road and do 10 box squats IC. Then 10 6-point burpees. I could explain what these are, but I would prefer not to….to surprise all those that didn’t show up at another workout. Needless to say everyone really enjoyed them.

OK, warm up over.

Assemble in the middle of the field again. PAX pair up. Several ask if size matters and I clearly responded “A little bit”. Note, I did NOT say NO. “A little bit” means “Yes” for part of this exercise size will matter but not for all of it. People pair up.

Since there will be all sorts of creatures roaming around the neighborhood this evening we needed to practice our hunting skills. So we were going on animal hunts. People tried to change partners — too late gentleman…..

We started with a bear hunt. One partner bear crawls toward one goal post, the other runs around the other and chases down the bear. Once the bear was caught he has to carry the bear all the way to the far goal posts. Walk back to the middle of the field. Switch bears and runners.Repeat. Walk back to the middle of the field. 5 candlestick burpees. Now we go on a crab hunt. After both partners go we meet in the middle for another 5 candlestick burpees.

Now we move to the rail. One partner will run a lap around the field, the other will do monkey humpers. Switch when the runner returns. 5 candlestick burpees. Repeat but replace monkey humpers with squat jumps. Dunphy and Seabiscuit tried to get a headstart, so we reversed the direction of the lap….so they got a little extra exercise this morning. Someone needs to contact Whipper and get the fields fixed after GoFest wrecked them. HC3 wrestled with one of the ruts and lost.

We had just a few minutes left for Mary. We circle up and get on our sixes. Poor Dunphy says he was cold and wet. Although its 43 degrees (well above freezing) it is still plausible to get frost bite in these temps when wet. This is a serious concern. So we all get back up and do 10 burpees OYO to get the blood flowing to warm up. He assures the rest of the PAX that he is now warm. Back on our sixes. 20 American Hammers IC. 20 LBCs. 10 5 candlestick burpees.

Recover, recover.

Walking back to the cars we notice Pipeline hiding in his perfect costume. He dressed as a goal post and stayed perfectly still for the entire 45 minutes. Well played sir. (Side note, on my way to work he was still there holding the same pose. If you are on Reserve Ave today please check on him).

Thoughts and prayers for CatScratch and his family.

Have a safe and happy Halloween.
