Q: Pipeline
Pipeline’s Q Week from Hell rolled on into Hump Day with an ’80s-themed HIIT workout. Everyone yogged up the stairs to the roof of the Carilion parking deck where a delightful sprinkle of rain met the group. The format was: 20 seconds of exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest, times eight, and then one minute of rest. Pick a new exercise and repeat all that for six more rounds for a total of seven rounds.
The playlist included a selection of the finest pop and rock music from the Reagan years, including Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Queen, Falco, the Bangles, Van Halen, Survivor, Joan Jett, and Cat Scratch’s favorite, Olivia Newton-John.
The exercises:
Round 1: Burpees (duh)
Round 2: Flutter kicks
Round 3: Merkins
Round 4: High knees
Round 5: Overhead claps
Round 6: LBCs
Round 7: Monkey humpers
Then the group yogged back to G for a quick stretch.
Recover. Recover. COT. Cat Scratch chose that moment to delve into the details of overnight accommodations in Asheville for the Blue Ridge Relay. Name-o-rama and Bundy took us away.
